Implemented in Cuba for a couple of years, the Belgian hatchery feed leader, BernAqua, has recently demonstrated its big potential in contributing to the Cuban aquaculture industry during The Havana International Fair (FIHAV).

The Havana International Fair (FIHAV) is the largest annual multi-sector trade fair in Cuba. The last one took place in the ExpoCuba fairground located on the outskirts of Havana from October 30th to November 3rd. BernAqua, as one of the leading feed suppliers, which produces, develops and commercializes nutritional high-level, innovative products for fish and shrimps’ first stages of life, was present during this key trade event. As a part of Neovia Group, international specialist in animal nutrition and health, one of the biggest French actors specialized in animal health and nutrition – Invivo Group, BernAqua proposed a unique end-to-end service portfolio.

BernAqua has already worked with Cuba, importing their products to Alimport, the food trading company, established in Havana in 1962. Alimport has more of 50 years of experience in foreign trade activities.

During FIHAV BernAqua has truly focused on local aquaculture challenges and built strong business relations with Cuban government. The future of Cuba lies in aquaculture as the country is currently facing the consequences of global depletion of fish resources and the overexploitation of its own coasts. Therefore, aquaculture industry in Cuba plans to double output by 2030. From now on, BernAqua will be able to provide Cubans with its hatchery feeds, services and valuable expert advice.
